It’s just one of the perks of beating a 14-time world champion.
Carmelo Hayes looks to make a name for himself this weekend by claiming the coveted Money in the Bank briefcase this Saturday in Toronto. But regardless of the outcome, the man who says he doesn’t miss hit nothing but net on the Fourth of July.
On Thursday, Hayes wrote on X, “Just got free food at the airport. Bro said, ‘It’s free, you pinned Randy Orton. You’re Him.’”
Although he didn’t specify the airport or establishment, Hayes’ complimentary treat comes after his victory over Orton last month on SmackDown. During a triple-threat match that included The Bloodline’s Tama Tonga, Hayes scored what might be the biggest win of his career, albeit with some assistance.
As Orton focused on finishing both opponents, Tama’s brother, Tonga Loa, entered the fray. Orton swiftly dispatched him with a punch before Kevin Owens rushed in to neutralize Loa at ringside. Orton then threw Tama Tonga out of the ring as he returned to the action inside. Seizing the moment, Hayes approached Orton from behind and rolled him up for a surprise three-count.
With the victory, Hayes punched his ticket to the Money in the Bank ladder match at the upcoming event named after the very thing he’s after. And thanks to a free meal courtesy of his win over Orton, the former NXT Champion is setting the bar high for his reception in each new town.
“This the type of energy I need in every city from now on,” wrote Hayes.
