There were a few points of interest to the first trios match on the PPV portion of Forbidden Door. We had the novelty of New Japan Pro-Wrestling President Hiroshi Tanahashi partnering with The Acclaimed, and scissoring with Anthony Bowens after Max Caster said “bitch” a lot during his entrance rap.

Caster & Bowens have an upcoming shot at The Young Bucks AEW World Tag titles, so there was intrigue in them sharing a ring. But not as much as there was to see the EVPs Elite partner Kazuchika Okada get in the ring with Tanahashi again after their legendary rival during the Rainmaker’s NJPW career. Not that Okada had any intention of giving the Long Island crowd what they wanted…

…The Elite isolated Tanahashi after his old rival got his knees up on a High Flow Fly.
Okada eventually followed a drop kick with his finisher, giving him another win over President/Scissor Ace. The Elite tried to continue the beatdown post-match, but Tana’s friend Billy “Daddy Ass” Gunn ran in and made the save.
